Porn Web Hosting

Porn web hosting is tricky business. A lot of web hosts really want nothing to do with it. This is a little absurd when you consider how much money porn brings in. It is a huge industry and really the dominating force when it comes to determining where technology will go as it pertains to media.

Betamax vs. VHS? That battle was won when porn sided with VHS. Laserdisc and DVD? Porn went with DVD, so too did the world. The only reason we have high speed internet in the first place is because of porn. Think about it, how many people do you know who were fine with dialup until they heard they could privately download full adult movies?

Still, it carries a stigma for some reason: put sex on video and it makes some people blush. Well, we are not here to evangelize porn as a natural and normal part of modern web media, rather, we are here to help you figure out what makes a good porn web host.

Find a Host that Specializes
If they do not exclusively host porn sites, then adult sites should at least be a major portion of their hosting. In any event, they should offer some kind of special attention towards the adult website community. The fact is that most hosts who do not at least advertise as specializing in adult websites will not allow them.

Some of them may be fine with your website at first, but you may find your whole site locked down or deleted the first time somebody issues a complaint with the host. You do not want to have to worry about that, so find a host that you know is okay with your content.

Reliability
Reliability is always important in web hosting, but doubly so in adult content. You are in the trade of media, and that hogs a lot of bandwidth, so you need to make sure that you are going with a host that can handle thousands of megs of activity per second all throughout the day.

Security
Security is important as you are going to be providing password protected content to users who would, generally speaking, like to keep their activities discrete. We have all heard stories of people hacking profiles on adult sites and using them to blackmail. Whether or not it is a real threat, it is not something that your customers want to worry about.
